HRCC urge state institutions to release forcibly disappeared person

HYDERABAD: June 18, 2018. (Abbas Kassar) Human Rights Coordination Committee has made appeal to state institutions, federal and Sindh government to release all those people in their custody victims of enforced disappearances and missing persons on the occasion of Eid so to meet their family waiting and yelling for their loved ones since their disappearance. Committee has demanded to produce these missing persons in court if they were wanted in any criminal activities. The voice was raised at a meeting of Human Rights Coordination Committee at its meeting held here Thursday.

The meeting was attended by professor Imdad Chandio, Jami Chandio,Punhal Saryo, Dr.Ashothama,Mahesh Kumar, Buxul Thalho, Farooq Soomro, Haseen Musrat Shah, Alia Thalho,Mehran Memon, Amjad Palijo and Masroor Shah. The meeting observed that on the question of enforced disappearance whole Sindh was protesting and progressive, nationalist and political parties as also journalists, students, lawyers and human rights organizations have been protesting since long on this issue. They said this act was not only violation of basic human rights guaranteed by constitution. Not only persons missing but their whole families were being affected.

HRCC observed that when secret agencies of state instead of protecting citizens whisk them away violating law and constitution and when those responsible for law and order including of provincial government express their helplessness and moreover make the protesters subject to torture then question arises as to whom the affected families complain.

They said it appears as if undeclared Martial Law was imposed on oppressed people and those demanding authority on their own resources were being dubbed as traitors it seems as if most traitors were citizens of this country. They observed that our establishment instead of learning lesson from history was conquering its own vulnerable citizens. They demanded from federal and provincial governments to:

To free all missing political and social persons and to allow them to celebrate Eidd at their homes with their families;

To stop violation of basic national rights of all citizens and to follow all human rights guaranteed in constitution and by international institutions;

To produce all forcibly disappeared persons in courts of law to provide them chance of explanation; to form a committee to investigate killings of political and social workers during their disappearances; to declared enforced disappearances as crime and to punish those involved in such extra constitutional and extra-legal crimes.
