MRD was popular uprising in Sindh, tribute paid to Jamal Naqvi
HYDERABAD: August 22, 2017. (By Abbas Kassar) Movement for Restoration of Democracy (MRD) was popular uprising in Sindh against hanging of Z.A.Bhutto. Number of arrested political workers of almost all parties was so big that, in words of Maulana Ehtramul Haq Thanvi also a prisoner of military court, it changed the atmosphere of jail.
This was stated by professor Imdad Chandio while delivering presidential address at condolence reference in memory of professor Jamal Naqvi, late communist leader at Khadna Badosh,Sindh Museum here last night.
He said they were holding study circles and open kutcheries in jails on weekly basis. Imdad Chandio was then chairman of Democratic Students Federation (student wing of Communist Party Pakistan) Talking about Jamal Naqvi he said Jamal passed jail sufferings with bravery and never exhibited his weakness. Imdad Chandio said he thinks that those political workers who were prosecuted for treason were more loyal to Pakistan than contractors of Pakistan’s security. Others who spoke on the occasion included professor Jaffar Ahmed, advocate Shabbir Shar,Jam Saqi,Zahida Hina, Mahesh Kumar, daughter of Jamal Naqvi, Sohail Sangi, Dr. Riaz and others.
They termed books of Naqvi as scientific instead of communist ideology adding that his writing need revisit. They said his book was not denial on communism but criticism on CPP. They said after dissolution of Soviet Union many party workers turned as nationalists, religious and others to mysticism. They said it was right of every one to change his ideas. Imdad Chandio said ideology is like river that continues to change cours. Disintegration is part of live, he added. He said no success or failure is forever.
The world of thoughts continues to be changed because all ideologies and systems are made for welfare of people. Giving example, he said many advocates of democracies when get power they deprive people of their democratic rights. Chandio said agencies men asked him “why are you talking of revenge. To which he answered revenge of Bhutto’s hanging”. Remembering Jamal Naqvi, he said his treatment with him and other party workers was fatherly.
