Independence Day Celebration by NCIDE

Lahore: August 15, 2018. (PCP) National Commission for Interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism (Catholic Bishops Conference Pakistan) organized an Interfaith Programme in connection with Independence Day 2018 in Lahore.

Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap, Executive Secretary, NCIDE, Br. Philip Heera OFM and Moulana Muhammad Asim Makhdoom were the chief guests of this programme. Among the other guests of honour on this occasion were and Hafiz Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain, Br. Faisal Francis and Dr. Badar Munir, The program was attended by a good number of Students from different schools and Midrasas.

In his introductory note, Br. Faisal Francis congratulated all the participants on this special day. He encouraged the student’s young people to be proactive and accept the positive values of every religion rather being negative. In spite of indifferences, we must go on the way of harmony and solidarity. The respect of others’ Religion and for humanity should be promoted and equality, reconciliation and fraternity should be our gain in life, so we may be a guiding light to other generations to be Ambassadors of Peace like us.

The other speakers too expressed their happiness and cited the efforts of NCIDE in the promotion of Peace. While thanking the guests and the students, Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap said, We are all celebrating Independence Day of our country with national spirit and zeal. We should live with peace and let others live with peace as well to let the vision of Quaid-e-Azam be fulfilled in its true meanings. He encouraged the young students that they are going to be the future leaders of the nation, they must be peace loving and peace builder. We should always keep in mind the sacrifices of our ancestors in the struggle for Pakistan and give the same lesson to the generations to come so they may live in peace and harmony under the shadow of the trees sown by them.

During the programme, the students presented beautiful tableaus and national songs. At the end of the ceremony all the participants rose and sang along the national song while holding the flags of Pakistan in their hands.
