NEW DELHI, DEC 26 (PTI) All India Christian Council today blamed Pakistan's anti-minority policies for the terrorist attack on a Church near Lahore that claimed three lives and said it was designed to terrorise the minorities who anyway are second rate citizens in that country. Lashing out at Paksitan President Pervez Musharraf, Council President Joseph D'Souza and General Secretary John Dayal said "the regime's tenor has been against minorities and this has continued to feed the fundamentalists in the countryside who target Christians, and particularly Christian women." Accusing Musharraf of only paying "lip-service" to protecting minorities, in a statement here the council said violence against Christians had become a norm in Pakistan and the government was doing nothing to contain "open and more subtle violence against the minorities including Hindus". Three persons were killed and at least 10 injured when burqa-clad assailants hurled explosives into a Presbytarian church during Christmas mass in Pakistan's central Punjab province. The statement, also condemned last night's attack on a church in Maliapota village of West Bengal in which armed men looted people attending the midnight mass and requested the authorities to take measures to protect places of worship.
