ICPR presents case of Pakistani Christians in HRC of UN

Geneva, Switzerland: October 09, 2009. (PCP) An International Think Tank “ International Club for Peace Research” successfully presented case of religious persecution and atrocity on Christians in Pakistan in a meeting of Human Rights Council of the United Nations last week.

ICPR had invited three Pakistan Christian youth who presented incidents of their victimization in Islamic Republic of Pakistan and present true picture of religious freedom in Pakistan to participants of meeting.

It is first occasion that any organization have taken lead to highlight situation of Pakistani Christian on any UN forum in Geneva.

The Muslim militants have frequent attacks on Christians in recent months in Pakistan on accusation of blasphemy. The hundreds of Christian homes were destroyed and Churches desecrated by radical Muslims in Punjab province of Pakistan.

The Christian children and women were burnt alive and scores gunned down in recent violence and attack by Islamic militants.

The Christian youth presented horrified stories of attacks on homes and properties of Christians in Pakistan and complained about their voting rights in Pakistan.

The repeal of blasphemy law was voiced in meeting of delegates on non-governmental organizations and diplomats in Human Right Council of UN.

According to Business Wire India it is quoted that Pakistani Youth said “The Christians in Pakistan have no voting rights, food is not distributed in equality and Christians are treated as a lowest minority possible. In the July 2009, about quarter a million Christians were displaced from their houses, women raped, children killed and mob''s robbed the remaining houses”
