HYDERABAD: September 18, 2017. (PCP) An 11th grade student,16 years Saifur Rehman Jatoi who was picked up by state agencies was still missing since last more than 2 months. His father has been knocking doors of almost every pillar to post but finds no authority to tell him whereabouts of his son. Addressing news conference at press club here Monday Habib Jatoi, father of forcibly disappeared Saifur Rehman told media that the chain of picking up people by state agencies continues since long which never stops. He said few years back Human Rights Watch had described human rights situation in Pakistan and enforced disappearances in these words “We can torture, keep you for years and kill you”. He said such a situation has been with their family as his 16 year old son Saifur Rehman Jatoi who is student of 1st year pre-engineering at degree college Qasimabad,Hyderabad was taken away by state agency personnel after intruding in my house and making hostages all family members on gun point at 4 morning of 12 July 2017. He said he approached near police station Bhitai Nagar but SHO and other police officials did not tell him whereabouts of his son rather refused to lodge FIR of his disappearance.
Habib Jatoi told that desperately scared, he made appeals to president, prime minister, army chief, chief justice of Pakistan and Sindh and other concerned authorities for life and safe return of my son. He told on his petition filed with Sindh High Court Karachi chief justice issued notices to Sindh police, Rangers, MI, ISI and others for 21 July but, he added, alas he saw even higher judiciary is helpless before the state institutions as they never bothered to answer high court. However, SHC ordered on 29th August Bhitai Nagar police Qasimabad to lodge his FIR but same was lodged after 16 days on 14 September 2017.
He made appeal to higher authorities army chief, DG Rangers, DG MI, Corps Commander Karachi, I.G.Sindh and D.I.G Hyderabad for security of life of his missing son and his safe return to pay respect to law, judiciary and human rights. However, he said if his son was wanted in any case he should be produced in court of law. He also warned otherwise his family, friends and human rights activists would observe hunger strike for recovery of his son from 21 September to 28th. He made appeal to all human rights activists to join them for raising voice for release of his son.
