LAHORE: November 23, 2015. (PCP) The Lahore High Court will hear appeal of blasphemy victim Sajjad Masih sentenced to life in prison on December 7, 015. Sajjad Masih Gill, a 28-year-old Christian, residing in the district of Pakpatan, in the province of Punjab, was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of 200 thousand rupees by a court of first instance in Gojra. The ruling was issued on July 13. Gill, a member of the "Seventh Day Adventist" Christian community, had been indicted for blasphemy by some Muslim religious leaders and other influential people for sending SMS from his mobile phone with blasphemous content. The charges against him failed to produce any evidence to show proof of guilt: From Gill's cell phone, in fact handed over to the police, there appeared to be no blasphemous SMS which was sent, nor were there any eyewitnesses. Sajjad Masih pleaded not guilty. Prominent Christian lawyer, Javed Chaudhry Sahotra who followed case of Sajjad Gill in District and Session Courts Gojra told Pakistan Christian Post today that he is confident that Lahore High Court will ensure justice and release Sajjad Masih on hearing on December 7, 2015. As Sajjad Masih congregate of Seventh Day Church of Pakistan, so, the Seventh Day Adventist Christian community gathered have announced prayers for him. Meanwhile, a Christian charity based in Lahore, named LEAD have also claimed that it have filed appeal of Sajjad Masih and its Chief Sardar Mushtaq Gill will plead his case in Lahore High Court.
