Sialkot: (By Dr. Emmanuel Adil Ghouri) In the first four months of this year, there has been a sharp increase in cases of kidnapping and forced marriage and conversion of young Christian girls in Pakistan's Punjab province. These incidents have taken place in different districts Lahore, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura and Sialkot.

The number of such incidents is more but few incidents have come to light due to social media.

Recently, a young girl named Sania, whose father is Amin Masih, was abducted at gunpoint by Muhammad Saif and Muhammad Sharjeel in a village Najootar of Sialkot, which is in Sadar police station area, and forcibly converted her to Islam. got married. After learning about the incident, the girl's father, Amin Masih, filed a report of the girl's abduction in the concerned police station, on which the accused became enraged and attacked Amin Masih's house and threatened him that if he took police action, he would be killed. His remaining four daughters will also be kidnapped.

After receiving the information about the incident, Chairman of Christian Awareness Movement Dr. Emanuel Adil Ghouri met the victim family and assured them of all possible legal assistance.Later, met the district police officer with the victim's family and requested them to take notice of the incident. Not only this, three christian members of the Punjab Provincial Assembly also met the District Police Officer and requested to register a case. However, the police showed no interest in nabbing the girl and registering a case against the accused.Pakistan's Marriage Act prescribes punishment for child marriage, but the police do not arrest those who marry young Christian girls illegally by converting them to Islam, which is increasing such incidents.

Another such incident has taken place in Aguki police station of Sialkot, where Muhammad Tanveer has kidnapped a 14-year-old Christian girl Mehek daughter of Younis and married her after converting her to Islam. But the police did not make any attempt to arrest the accused. After the kidnapping of young Christian girls in Sialkot, a Muslim priest, Qari Mohammad Shakir, is conducting all the forced marriages of them. This Muslim religious leader is so powerful that despite his illegal activities, the police are afraid to register a case against him and he considers it his proudest achievement.Apart from the two cases mentioned above, there are many other cases in which cases have been registered but the accused have not been arrested. The police's friendly attitude towards the suspects who kidnap Christian girls and convert them to Islam encourages more such incidents.
