LARKANA/DADU: March 29, 2010. (Nazir Siyal reports for PCP) The Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Information Jameel Ahmed Soomro has said that those who were claiming themselves champions of democracy and opponent of 17th amendment in the constitution are now deviation from their stand and creating hurdles in the way for repealing 17th amendment in the constitution through constitution’s reforms committee. This he said while talking to the media men here at Dadu and Garhi Khuda Bux on Monday. He said that it was not a first time that PML (N) has deviated from its stand but it has also deviated from its own decision and was not even willing to implement on the water distribution accord of 1991 made during its government. He said that though PPP had not accepted this 1991 water accord but is ready to accept in the interest of the nation. He said that now IRSA was responsible to implement on the 1991 water accord. He said that when PPP government taken its practical steps to restore the 1973’s constitution in its original shape, to provide provincial autonomy to the provinces, strengthen the parliament and institutions rather than to individual one, the Muslim League (N) surprised to nation by taking u-turn from the recommendations of reform’s committee. He said that the PPP was running its government under the reconciliation approach by taking all democratic forces into confidence just to strengthen the institutions as provided into constitution. The Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh said that conspiracies being hatched against the democratic government but today the people are more aware and strong enough to protect their democratic government which came into being under their verdict. While talking about the socio-economic problems confronting to the nations, the Advisor to CM said that since the large period of the history the government’s remained under the control of dictators which according to him has caused and pileup many socio-economic problems of the people. However, he made it clear that under the strategy of present government, the many development projects either being implemented or to be implemented to provide economic stability in the country. While responding about the energy crises, the Advisor to CM said that it is surprise to say that since last 12 years not a single plant has been installed for generating electricity, while demand of the electricity is increasing day by day. He said now PPP government has initiated for installation of power plants by utilization of coal preservers in Tharparkar and Badin districts and works on these projects has been expedited and hopefully these plants would start producing 300 to 600 mega watts by 45 months. Later, he attended the meetings with Media persons and Chambers of Commerce and Industry Larkana.
