SSS Larkana observes International Day of jounalists

LARKANA: May 4, 2011. (By Nazir Siyal) Sindh Sahafi Sangat (SSS) Larkana chapter observed International Day of Journalists here at Larkana Press Club on Tuesday. Journalists’ community held gathering, rallies and visited the mazar of martyred Photo-Journalist Shaheed Munir Sangi here at the Dodai graveyard Larkana. On the occasion, large number of journalists of Larkana district participated in the condolence reference for all deceased journalists in Larkana. The condolence meeting was chaired by the President SSS Nazir Siyal, the other participants including senior Journalists Dr. Badar Shaikh, Mazhar Surhiyo, Barkat Ali Gadhi, Imtiaz Ali Gorar, Ghulam Sarwer Gadhi, Naveed Larik, Mushtaq Tunio, Hafeez Mangi, Abdul Jabbar Noonari, Nisar Sangi, Ali Nawaz Mangi, Gregory and others paid rich tribute to the deceased and martyred Journalists of Larkana. The meeting also stressed on government for the freedom of expression and protection of media men because the media community has always raise voice for the grieved and down trodden people of country. The members of Sindh Sahafi Sangat (SSS) further told that the media is the mirror of society and voice of public, so that media should be free and play its role in the development of institutions. On the occasion, the Journalists community also paid glorious tribute to the deceased founder Press Club Journalists and members including Late Syed Jamaludin Bukhari, Ahmed Kamal, Sayed Mutahir Hussain Naqvi, Qaimuddin Mangi, Munir Ahmed Shaikh, Hidayatullah Mangi, Mehmood Sharaf Siddiqui, Haji Mohammed Khan Shaikh, Mohammed Ibrahim Shaikh, Mureed Hussain Pathan, Abdul Hameed Shaikh, Mohammed Moosa Surhiyo, Abdul Ghani Shaikh, Moosa Brohi, Munir Sangi, Jalal Khan Khoharo and others. Later, the delegation of Sindh Sahafi Sangat (SSS) visited the mausoleum of Photo-Journalist Shaheed Munir Sangi at Dodai road Larkana and laid floral wreath offered Fateha on the occasion. Meanwhile, the heirs of Photo-Journalist Shaheed Munir Sangi along with local Journalists staged protest and demonstration for the arrest of killers of Shaheed Munir Sangi and demanded the protection of media persons and freedom of expression.
