Christian employees dress in CDA Islamabad is symbol of hatred and disease. J. Salik

Islamabad. June 14, 2005. Addressing a press conference Ex. Federal Minister J. Salik said that Privatization

in Pakistan is the Burning Issue of the day. Although the importance of the matter requires a lot of thinking and discussion in many ways, but today I will talk to you with special reference to the sanitary workers engaged after privatization of sanitary work places in G-6, G-8, G-9, G-10 and I-10 sectors of Islamabad. The workers have to perform 10 longer duty hours a day for only Rs. 1700/- pm, while the under age children engaged for the same work are only in receipt from Rs. 1200 to 1500/- pm. They are allowed no holiday even on Eid and other festivals. This act is in contradiction of the Privatization Contract. All this is open cruelty to the oppressed Christian community. It is worth mentioning that the yellow colour Para shoot jacket with same color of dust drums is symbol of disease and hatred. During preceding years, almost all the budgets reflect increase in pay and allowances in view of price-hike, but neglecting the poor in the budget is adding to their miseries. Those living in glass-houses have ignored the poor, but we are tolerating all this only for the prestige of our beloved- Pakistan. All know that when poor stand for struggle, no one can stop the Revolution. This humiliating treatment with the Christian is due to their non-representation in the National Assembly, which remain only 10 for the last 30 years, which have been filled by selection instead of election. I would like to draw your kind attention towards the plight of CDA sanitary workers. Even after privatization of PTCL, which is a very important institute of the country, the fate of its employees will not be different after its privatization. Its employees are the country loving people as they are struggling to protect the interest of the country; as such they deserve our support and love.
