Mandi Bahauddin: July 15, 2011. (Sher Gondal) Mr. Taj Sahowtra, district president PPP Christians community has demanded of government to give them basic rights and treat them at par with other citizens. He said approximately 40 thousands Christians inhabit in Mandi Bahauddin district; they work as laborers and sweepers - some with municipal administration while other privately to earn their livelihood. He said the pay and wages they receive falls short to meet their domestic needs and they live from hand to mouth. There is no job for their educated children. Not a single member from their community was given financial support under Benazir support scheme or other schemes run under Punjab government. He said their residential localities are without water drainage system and condition of streets is deplorable. He urged concerned authorities to take notice of their hardships and resolve them at priority bases.
