Toronto, Canada: February 3, 2013. (PCP) The point of encouragement remains that various Churches, organizations and groups have assured to join in our struggle. At this point we would like to reiterate our ambition, which is to serve the Pakistani community here in Canada and our brothers and sisters back in Pakistan, who are still victims of religious prejudice, discrimination and persecution.
Shahbaz Bhatti not only gave his life for the Christians and other religious minorities of Pakistan but for all Christians and religious minorities living abroad as well. Due to his sacrifice, Pakistani Christians here in Canada have also benefited in different areas especially in areas of immigration.
ICV – Canada was formed by the Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti and we abide by the rules and principles formed by our leader Shahbaz Bhatti. We believe that we have to stand together; we want that all Churches, organizations and various groups to work together so that our strengths will not be divided and we could inspire the non-Christians, by spreading the message of love, peace and unity preached by Jesus Christ.
We hope that the 2nd anniversary of Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti will be the day when all of us could get together and show our unity and concern for our nation all around the world. We are expecting a large number of Canadian government officials, heads of different organizations, Churches and different faith community leaders. They will all attend this event and pay their respect and tribute to Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti.
God Almighty has blessed Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti with this great honour, and we too are blessed because he was a part of us, an essential part of our community, and a part of our family. Therefore it is our duty to maintain this heroism and pay tribute to our leader.
Tanveer Joseph, Vice Chair of ICV-Canada says “Once again I would like to extend my heartiest gratitude to all who are supporting this big event of our community, in this event we will celebrate the life of Martyr Shahbaz Bhatti & his martyrdom. No doubt his sacrifice has benefited all of us in many ways. Our recognition as a Pakistani Christian community in Canada is one of the big achievement, otherwise we were not recognized, as we are recognized now. Therefore, we should take full advantage of this recognition and should be known as the community. This can only happen if all organizations, churches, people stand together; and should raise our voice together. If you believe in it please let’s stand together... and stay together”
