J Salik challenges Reserve Seats in parliament in SC

Islamabad: March 2, 2013. (PCP) Julius Salik, Nadir Ali Siddiqui Advocate and Raja Shujaat Ali Abbasi Advocate where Petitioners prayed to the Honourable Supreme Court that 60 Reserve seats for women in National Assembly and 128 reserve seats for women in Provincial Assemblies may be conducted through secret ballot under Article 226 of Constitution of Pakistan after making new constituencies for this purpose, Moreover it is further prayed that 10 reserve seats in National assembly and 23 reserve seats for provincial assemblies for non-Muslims may also be conducted through secrete ballot Under Article 226 of Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The respondents are violating express provisions of Article 4 of constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973 as petitioner is deprived of contesting the election on minority seat as an independent candidate, thus the petitioner is unable to enjoy the protection of law as well as he is not being treated in accordance of law which is an alienable right of the citizens of the country. This worse discrimination requires immediate redressal of the grievances of the non Muslim voters. Notices have been issued to the Respondents, 1.Federation of Pakistan, through Secretary Election, Islamabad. 2.Election Commission of Pakistan, through Chairman. 3.Ministry of Law & Justice, Pakistan through Secretary, Islamabad. 4.Chairman Senate, Government of Pakistan. 5.Speaker Nation Assembly, Government of Pakistan. Hafiz S A Rehman, Senior Advocate of Supreme court will appear to the court for this case.
