WAPDA SEPCO disconnect power supply KT and JSQM

LARKANA: March 12, 2013. (Nazir Siyal) A complete violation of basic human rights and cruelty by WAPDA SEPCO corrupt officials, they removed new meters, issued during installation of new ABC cables in Larkana and other parts, before the upcoming election, the electricity supply was disconnected from the offices of several political parties. According to the reports, the electricity supply was also disconnected at Provincial head quarter Khaksar Tehreek Larkana after the ongoing protests and staged sit-in outside the Superintendent Engineer (SE) by Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) and others against the WAPDA SEPCO officials. While talking to the media men Khaksar Tehreek Qaid Dr. Sabiha Al-Mashriqi condemned the atrocity and violation of SEPCO, they disconnected a large number of consumers in Larkana that plunged into the darkness. She said before the upcoming election, SEPCO operation against political parties and leaders is a complete victimization to suppress the rivals and opponents, she turned it a political tactics to target the consumers on political grounds. Chief of KT said the defaulters of millions of rupees were enjoying the electricity facility, while the poor consumers are deprived from the basic right of electricity. Dr Sabiha pointed out that the SEPCO officials are taking heavy bribe about millions of rupees from Sindh Small Industries area and they yet did not take any operation or replaced old cables and meters. Khaksar leader supported the continued protest demonstrations by the JSQM, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf and other communities and citizens against the Corrupt SEPCO officials for restoration of electricity supply. It is also worth mentioned that poor consumers have been compelled to install expensive meters and insulation cables by overcharging Rs. 2000 each on the spot and issued new meters, after few days the SEPCO authorities disconnected their meters without any reason and large parts of city was plunged into the darkness and the streets too. SEPCO contractor staff with SDO Chandka Sub-division disconnected hundreds of connections and restored lines after taking allegedly bribe from several consumers in the area. The SEPCO authorities also removed PTCL cables and PVC wires belonging to the consumers form several poles on the occasion. it is also pertinent to be mentioned here that the WAPDA SEPCO officials are taking personal revenge from the neighbors and rivals and disconnected thousands of connections. The political leaders of various parties in Larkana have condemned the present action of SEPCO authorities, that have compelled hundreds of houses and the streets are plunged in to the darkness due to disconnection of electricity supply in Larkana, while the industries including Rice Mills, Floor mills and other Sindh Small Industry area was exempted from new meters and cable connections, because of heavy monthly bribe and electricity theft. They demanded of the higher authorities and judiciary to take action against the corrupt WAPDA officials and appoint new honest and energetic staff for this issue to take it on war footing basis.
