Karachi: March 19, 2013. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have urged US Congress to condition all military and deveoplment aid to Pakistan with repeal of blasphemy laws and elections on 70 reserved seats in National National Assembly of Pakistan for minorities and women, in a petition filed from US city of Philadelphia, to President Barak Obama, all Members of US House of Representitives and all Senators of US Senate.
Dr. Nazir Bhatti have pleaded in petition that on pretext to blasphemy laws, the violence is rising against Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Ahmadiyyias and Shia communities in Pakistan and culprits are never brought to justice.
The accused of burning alive 7 Christian children, women and elder and setting on fire more than 60 homes of Christians in Gojra Town in 2009, walked away from courts with support of infulential Muslims in government of Punjab and recent burning of 187 homes of Christian homes in Joseph Colony Lahore is worst shape of Islamic extremism in Pakistan.
Dr, Nazir Bhatti said that It is surprising to note that 10 reserved seats for minorities and 60 reserved seats for women in National Assembly of Pakistan are mockery to constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and against true spirit of democracy. Article 226, of Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan very clearly says; "All elections under the Constitution, other than those of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, shall be by secret ballot"
"There are only 272 seats of National Assembly of Pakistan which are elected by voters under Article 226, of Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan while 10 reserved seats of minorities and 60 reserved seats for women are Selected by Muslim political parties in House violating democratic and constitutional means. Therefore, House of 342 of National Assembly of Pakistan can not be true democratic in which 70 reserved seats are added through unconstitutional means while any legislation or amendment in Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan can not be termed as vaild which is voted by 70 undemocratic and uncontitutional selected members" added Nazir Bhatti
Nazir Bhatti has appealed US Adminstration to ask government of Pakistan to declare Election on all 342 seats of National Assembly of Pakistan under franchise vote in forthcoming national general elections of 2013, because Election by secret ballot under article 226, will end corrouption to prevail transperency and democracy as Muslim political leaders recieve millions of rupees bribes to fill these 70 reserved seats or select their relatives on these seats.
"PCC have filed many memorandums with Election Commission of Pakistan and government of Pakistan to ensure Elections instead of Selection on 70 reserved seats but due consideration is never given while there are petition pending on Article 226 of constitution of Islamic Republic in Supreme Court of Pakistan SCP since 2010" said PCC Chief
In Petition, its submitted that US adminstration is major funding and donor to government of Pakistan while US adminstration believe in True Democracy around globe and respect for human right which forces us to file petition with your offices regarding these important issues.
Therefore, PCC have appealed in Petition to US adminstration to condition US military and development aid to Pakistan on true democracy and human rights which are being violated under Selection on 70 reserved seats and misuse of blasphemy laws.
In responce to PCC Petition, the early responce appeared Senator Pat Toomey, US Senator from Pensylvania on March 18, 2013; who said "Thank you for contacting me about U.S. relations with Pakistan. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue. Following the attack of September 11, 2001, our nation launched Operation Enduring Freedom to eliminate Al Qaeda's safe haven in Afghanistan and stop that country from being a base of operations for future terrorist attacks against the United States. The success of our efforts in Afghanistan then and now has required the cooperation of the government of Pakistan. To that end, the U.S. has provided Pakistan with substantial military and non-military assistance. Specific to your concerns, U.S. aid to Pakistan should be accompanied by that country's willingness to support, or at least not impede, our efforts in Afghanistan. As you may know, I visited Pakistan and Afghanistan during my first month in the Senate, and my meetings with senior officials there did raise concerns about our relationship with Pakistan. As Congress continues reviewing this issue, please be assured that I value your input and will keep your thoughts in mind"
The PCC Petition is on Social Media where people are also signing to urge upon US Congress to press upon government of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy laws and Election on reserved seats for Minorities and Women in parliament of Pakistan.
