CCA President meet Minister of Foreign Affairs Honorable John Baird

Toronto: March 23, 2013. (PCP) John Gill, President CCA, met with Hon John Biard, Minister of Foreign Affairs. He commended the Government of Canada for the establishment of the Office of Religious Freedom. He also congratulated the government for the appointment of Dr. Andrew Bennett and affirmed CCA's continued support for Canada's leadership in increasing tolerance for religious minorities and promotion of freedom of religion and beliefs. He maximized on this opportunity and made suggestions for increasing the effectiveness of the office of religious freedom through close monitoring of Canada's ODA. He also requested the Minister that the local community organizations should be considered for funding projects that enhance tolerance and reduce stigma and discrimination against religious minorities. The Minister assured him that his concerns will be considered during the consultation meetings of the Office of Religious Freedom; he also assured that the government will do their best so that the office can get excellent results towards freedom of religion and belief.
