Christian Colony under threat of Land Mafia

HYDERABAD: April 22, 2013. (By Abbas Kassar) The residents of Masihi colony in Sanghar have complained that the land mafia gangsters led by one Mansoor Nizamani was harassing them to vacate their homes and for that purpose he has started to occupy the homes of colony and as first step he has occupied the home of one Masih Barkat Malkeen. Addressing news conference here on Monday the residents of colony told that there were 60 homes of Christians in this coly the land of which was allotted to them in 1962 by then chairman of municipal committee Rais Dhani Bux, then their colony was declared as Kachi Abadi in 1981 with layout approval. Until 1992 they were provided water supply, drainage and electricity. They said that in 1995 one vandalist Mansoor Ali started to claiming the land of their colony and occupied pieces of land. He occupied homes of Siddiq Masih, Benjamin Samuel and Barkat and was making advances with help of police and revenue department. They said their village was spread on only 2 acres of land which was also not being digested to local terrorist gangsters. They said Mansoor Ali Nizamani was son of Anwer Mahmood who was close to chief justice Pakistan Chowdhry Iftikhar Mahmood and his son was misusing name of CJP. They said that they were being forced to run from post to pillar from one office to another but no one was helping them even no local advocate was ready to become their lawyer. They said they even called on Pir Saheb Pagaro and sought his help. Apart from him they approached Saleem Khurshid Khokhar, IG police, DC Sanghar, Paul Bhatti chairman All Pakistan Minorities Alliance,Akram Masih minister in Punjab government, HRCP and National Commission for Justice of Peace ( also called catholic commission) but so far no one has come forward to help save them from ejection from their ancestral homes. They made appeal to higher authorities to help them save from being ejected from their homes. They also told that the minorities in Pakistan has lost its importance as they have been deprived of their right to vote in a system in which they cannot elect their representatives who are selected by Muslim parties and only those get chance who pay heavy bribe to political party chiefs.
