HYDERABAD: May 21,2013. (Abbas Kassar) Pakistan Election Commission which is accused by almost all political parties of its inefficienty and incompetency to hold free and fair elections and which is now widely being termed as Pakistan Selection Commission and not Election Commission. Even big national political parties Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League have been limited to only one province each.PPP, Jamat Islami, Jamiat Ulema Pakistan, Pakistan Tehrik Insaf and 10 parties alliance led by Pir Pagara all raise fingers to PEC for mass rigging. Apart from above another blunder the PEC has committed is burying all reports of rigging which were prepared and submitted to it by 400 monitoring committees formed by election commission itself to report the violation of code of ethics. These monitoring committee had cost millions of rupees to government for training of their 2000 members. Teams visited 261 national parliament constituencies and submitted report to PEC which included fake voting, role of law enforcement agencies with referrence to maitaining peace, violations of code of ethics, exhibition of arms and other contraventions of election laws. But the report prepared with so much expenses and labour have never been seen by PEC so far and seems that it has thrown same in dust bin. The re polling in 43 polling stations at NA 250 seat which reversed results and PTI candidate won the seat getting 77000 votes while erstwhile winner Ms. Khshbakht Shujat got only 30,000 votes shows to which extent the election commission was partisan. Arbabs of Thar who always win all 7 seats of their district could got only one seat this time are crying against rigging. PPP Punjab president Manzoor Watoo has demanded thump verification of at least one fourth of national seats. Similarly Shah Mahmood Qureshi chief of Ghousia Jamat was declared loser from Umerkot the base of his disciples has also demanded reelction. Mutehida Qaumi Movement that all say was beneficiary of poll rigging has itself accused election commission headed by Fakhruddin Ibrahin a retired supreme court judge and from Bohra community as Pakistan Selection Commision instead of elction commission. All above facts show the incompetency and inefficiency of chairman election commission at his 87th year of age and interim prime minister also around 86 years.
