Egypt: Muslim Brotherhood and Obama Alliance Countered by Coptic Church with Syria in the Wings. By Boutros Hussein and Lee Jay Walker
The United States continues to bankroll the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and the armed forces of this nation despite the increasing tentacles of the MB over all major institutions. Unlike President Obama gleefully praising the downfall of the old Hosni Mubarak government the same leader of America remains mainly quiet. This reality highlights the closeness between the MB and the Obama administration.
It appears that when secular governments are in crisis because of internal issues or the meddling of outside nations; then America is quick to step in and support change. Yet, when the MB is in crisis then mainly silence and the same applies to propping up feudal monarchies in the Gulf region. However, the masses in Egypt don’t want to be dictated to by Washington and powerful Gulf states. Instead, vast numbers of Egyptians want to focus on the economy, creating a political system whereby their foreign policy is independent and to create a nation state which accepts people irrespective of faith or political persuasion.
Therefore, people demonstrating against President Morsi (Mursi) fear that the MB led government will usurp powerful institutions and control society based on Islamic Sharia law. This reality means that the leading opposition to Morsi, the National Salvation Front (NSF), is fearful that the fragile democratic system will be taken over by the implementation of a theocratic state.
In the Investigative Project on Terrorism it reported about the tepid response of Obama by stating that “Faced with this historic outpouring of discontent, the best President Obama could muster Monday was a tepid call for “restraint.” There was no statement of support for the protesters, but Obama did make a point of saying Morsi had been democratically elected. “There’s more work to be done to create the conditions in which everybody feels that their voices are heard, and that the government is responsive and truly representative.”
“The president’s comments expose a fatal misunderstanding of the Muslim Brotherhood’s totalitarian doctrine. The Brotherhood has no interest in being democratic or pluralistic. The very basis of its existence is to impose Sharia and strict Islamic law upon everyone in Egypt as the first step of establishing a global caliphate. In a rare moment of candor, two top Brotherhood spokesmen said as much last year.”
Unlike Obama, who appears to care little about a future theocratic state and the continuing dhimmitude polices of the MB, the brave Coptic Christian Pope spoke out. The Coptic Christian Pope Tawadros II stated “It is wonderful to see the Egyptian people taking back their stolen revolution in a peaceful way, through the idea of Rebel and its youth.”
Pope Tawadros II also praised the “three greats of Egypt – the people, the army and the youth.”
Ahram Online reports that “Copts have been critical of Morsi’s leadership and of the 2013 constitution that was seen as favourable to Islamists. Clashes between Copts and Muslims have left dozens dead in the past months. However, sectarian strife in Egypt has existed before Morsi assumed power.”
“In an interview with Reuters last April, Pope Tawadros II said that Egypt’s Christians feel sidelined, ignored and neglected by Muslim Brotherhood-led authorities, who proffer assurances but have taken little or no action to protect them from violence.”
Placards at various demonstrations against Morsi also show images of Obama and the US Ambassador to Egypt being fellow stooges which seek to trample the freedom of this nation. Indeed, the US Ambassador to Egypt, Anne Patterson, put pressure on the Coptic Christian leadership to not involve their Christian followers in the anti-Morsi demonstrations. Of course, Obama will have given Patterson the go ahead to try to protect the MB in any way it can.
Alahednews reports on the remarks made by Patterson. This media agency states that “In support of Morsi and his regime, the US ambassador to Egypt is trying to prevent Egyptians from protesting-including the Copts.”
“According to the June 18 edition of ‘Sadi al-Balad’, lawyer Ramses Naggar, the Coptic Church’s legal counsel, during Anne Patterson’s June 17 meeting with Pope Tawadros, she “asked him to urge the Copts not to participate” in the demonstrations against Morsi and the Brotherhood.”
It must be stated that America is also helping the Muslim Brotherhood and various Islamist terrorist groups in Syria. This reality means that when Christian bishops are kidnapped in Syria and priests are killed – confirmed by the Vatican – that the response from America, France and the United Kingdom is to increase funding to sectarian and Takfiri forces. Christians and other minorities have freedom in areas under the control of the Syrian government. Despite this, the US is firmly behind Saudi Arabia which legally supports killing all apostates to Christianity based on Islamic Sharia law.
After all, the majority of the armed forces in Syria are Muslim and they are trying to protect all Syrians irrespective of faith. Likewise, the majority of people demonstrating against Morsi are Muslim and they want an inclusive Egypt whereby Muslims, Christians, Sunni, Shia and secularists are all brothers and sisters. However, the side that Washington is supporting wants to create Islamic Sharia states in Egypt and Syria and to enforce their version of Islam on other Muslims and Christians.
The Obama administration appears to be happy for Christians to face dhiimmitude or to flee Egypt. This reality means that it appears that London and Washington have a clear anti-Christian and anti-secular policy in the Middle East. After all, around 50% of all Christians have fled Iraq under the watch of the armed forces of America and the United Kingdom. Irrespective of what people think about Saddam Hussein it is ironic that Christians didn’t flee on mass under his leadership. However, they did flee their beloved homeland once America and the United Kingdom involved themselves in Iraq. Also, ironically, vast numbers of Christians fled to Syria whereby they obtained breathing space under the leadership of Bashar al-Assad. Yet now Christians are once more fleeing the Washington and Gulf backed terrorist groups in Syria. Therefore, Coptic Christians clearly understand the bigger picture because the same end results follow the policies of America, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom and several Gulf states if they are successful.
Mohamed Elibiary sums up the Obama administration because this Homeland Security adviser to the President of America stated in a tweet that “Overthrowing #Morsi thru undemocratic means, whether protest or coup, is unacceptable.”
On the contrary, it is unacceptable for the Obama administration to be in cohorts with the MB and clearly this Homeland Security adviser highlights the current reality within the corridors of power in America. It is based on wire-tapping people at home, manipulating the IRS, lying over Benghazi, helping weapons to reach sectarian and Takfiri forces in Syria which behead for fun, infringing on the rights of the media (AP) and now bugging the EU both at home and abroad.
The US Ambassador to Egypt and others cover up for the MB abroad and at home. Therefore, prior to the demise of Mubarak you had ridiculous comments praising this “largely secular” organization in the corridors of power. Yes, the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, stated that the MB was “largely secular”and “eschewed violence.” This reality sums up the praise of the MB prior to the demise of Mubarak and the ongoing support of the Obama administration towards Morsi.
Nobody knows the outcome of the current crisis in Egypt which is extremely serious. The BBC reports that“Military sources told the BBC the president’s position was becoming “weaker” with every passing minute and suggested that under the draft plan, he could be replaced by a council of cross-party civilians and technocrats ahead of new elections.”
“Mr Morsi was put under further pressure by the resignation of six ministers from his government on Monday, including Foreign Minister Kamel Amr.”
Catholic Online states “According to the Obama administration, Ibrahim says, “when Islamists . . . wage jihad on secular leaders, the U.S. supports them; when Christians protest Islamist rulers who are making their lives a living hell, the administration asks them to ‘know their place’ and behave like dhimmis. . . .”
“The Tamarod protest reminds us that liars, thieves, and murderers often wear suits, and that democratic governments are sometimes little more than veiled dictatorships. The protest also reminds us that oppression can come in the name of equality and tolerance just as easily as it can come in the name of Allah or any other name; and that corruption is presently flourishing in many governments throughout the world, including the United States. If the Tamarod protest reminds us of anything, it should remind us that there can be no peace without freedom.”
