Lahore: September 7, 2013. (PCP) Salma Tanveer, aged 40 and mother of four who was arrested on September 2, 2013, on accusation of blasphemy after distribution of pamphlet declaring him prophet of Muslim was sent on judicial remand of 14 days to Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore. Salma Tanveer was principal of a private school and famous as spiritual healer among neighborhood of Bahadurabad and posh areas of Model Town and Gulberg of Lahore. Muslim from all over Punjab were approaching to seek her prayers to heal their sicknesses and getting handwritten verses in Arabic of Holy Quran on papers for success in life. After huge following by Muslims, Salma Tanveer declared herself to be a prophet of Muslims in a flyer which her Muslim followers distributed among thousands. The area mosque Imam after reading flyer of Salma Tanveer, announced on loudspeakers that she have committed blasphemy with her declaration and defiles name of Prophet Mohammad, on which mob gathered to teach her lesson and kill but Nishtar Colony Police rescued her and arrested her under Section 295 C of PPC. According to Muslims, Prophet Mohammad is last prophet of Allah on earth and no one can call him prophet of Muslims and who so ever calls him prophet commits blasphemy and is liable of death as blasphemer. Meanwhile, CLAAS have issued an Initial Report on Salma Tanveer Blasphemy Case: On Tuesday 03, 2013 Mr. Joseph Francis National Director CLAAS was informed through newspaper about a registration of a blasphemy case no. 861/13 offence under section 295-C on September 02, 2013 against a principle of Secondary School Salma w/o Tanvir aged 50, resident of Nishtar Town Lahore and Muslim by faith. Mr. Joseph Francis came to know that Bibi was in the Race Course Women Police Station under investigation in this case on Sep 03. Therefore he immediately organized a team including Mr. Asher Sarfraz Field Officer and Ms. Rubina Ghazal Incharge CLAAS Legal Department and Mr. Ayaz Gill Court Clerk to investigate the matter and also visit Salma Bibi in the police station to collect the proper information and cause of the registration of saod case. The team met with lady constable who informed that Bibi was taken to the court of Magistrate in police security for judicial remand. When the team reached in the court, the court room was locked from inside because of the extremists pressure. There was a mob of over 200 people outside the court to kill Salma Bibi and protest against her and demand to execute her instantly. There were some Mollanas in the court room to pressurize judge. Meanwhile there was a high security in the court for Bibi. No one was allowed to go inside the court. Judicial Magistrate gave an order for 14 days judicial remand and sent her to Kot Lakhpat Jail/prison Lahore. CLAAS team tried to meet her but due her security from the mob police did not allowed any one to talk to Salma Bibi. CLAAS team went to Nishtar Police Station to collect the FIR (First Information Report) and her address to visit her family. Police informed the team that Salma Bibi has her own private school for secondary education. There was a dispute between the local Islamic Leader and Bibi, and she complained in the police station for several times. Recently she gave an application against Islamic leader named cleric Qazi Iftikhar Ahmad Raza (the complainant of the blasphemy FIR against her) for the wrongful use of the loudspeaker of the mosque. Police also informed that it is only personal grudge of cleric that he blamed Bibi for committing blasphemy by distributing blasphemous material against the respect of Holy Prophet Mohammad. SP investigation Model Town Lahore is dealing personally the investigation of the case and he assured the tem that he will do fair investigation and definitely justice would be provide to the lady. It is also a roamer that she is mentally disturbed and the court has taken action on the state of her mind and a medical board will be formed for her examine.
