KARACHI/LARKANA: March 17, 2014. (Nazir Siyal) Enraged mob after desecration of Holy Quran pages, led to strong street protests all over, set ablaze Dharam-Shalla in Larkana city and torched several shops in different parts, heavy police and Rangers resorted firing several injured among two policemen here on Sunday.
According to the details, a Hindu community youth was allegedly sacrilege of holy Book pages after drunk and torched on late Sunday night at Dari Muhalla Karma Bagh a center of the Larkana city in the jurisdiction of Market Police Station. The incident infuriated hundreds of people and religious organizations, they attempted to set on fire Dharm-Shalla and Temple in city during the protests, soon after a heavy police and Rangers reached the spot and saved the properties and worship place as more damages on the occasion.
Later on, angry people resorted aerial firing in city and staged violent protests, the Police and Rangers were present on the occasion and cordoned off the area surroundings of all worship places and sensitive areas, particularly Churches, Mandir, Dharam Shalla and the residences of Hindu community.
The police also arrested allegedly involved accused in the incidents and took away them by covering faces and administration took extra measures to prevent more damages in city late night about 2:00 am.
While, early in the morning and all the day all over the cities and towns particularly in Jaffar Abad district of Baluchistan, Osta Mohammed, Tando Allahyar large number of people torched number of shops and damages the properties of community in protest after desecration of Holy Quran pages in Larkana city.
The FC and police reached at the spot to disperse the violent protesters resorted shelling followed by firing, which resulted 6 people injured told the reports and police also.
Whereas, the violent Protests were observed whole the day in Larkana, Ratodero, Naudero, Madeji, Kamber-Shahdadkot and other parts of Sindh districts.
The district administration imposed ban on the dual pillion ridding in Larkana and 144, like a curfew situation in city here on Sunday, a heavy police and Rangers contingent remained vigilant over any untoward incidents.
The sources told that it was a big conspiracy, which triggered the Muslim and Hindu clashes in Larkana and other parts of country, which was foiled by Larkana citizens among one of the youth who confirmed the torched pieces of holly pages he told.
The apprehension of culprit of Hindu community in crime scene who allegedly burnt the sacred holy book was a conspiracy and it was unfolded after thorough investigation.
Hindu community in Larkana and other towns celebrated Basant in a simple manner at their homes/residences.
After the incident, in Larkana and several other cities of Sindh were reportedly closed or shutter down in small and big towns and that led religious organizations took out the protest rallies and torched 10 shops in a day.
The law enforcement agencies are probing into the incident closely to find the clue any involvement of Raw agents to provoke religious and sectarian clashes sources informed.
While, huge number of Police and Rangers personals’ have been deployed in the different areas of city at worship places, Mandars, putting law enforcement agencies on high alert to ward off any untoward situation in Larkana city told SSP Larana and Deputy Commissioner.
Meanwhile MNAs, District administration Larkana convened meeting of peace committee at Circuit house Larkana with different leaders of religious scholars of organizations and representatives of Hindu community called for the impartial investigation and to maintain the peace and harmony aftermath of tragic incident.
The sources told the involvement of external hidden hands behind the incidents to instigate Hindu Muslim clashes in country cannot be ruled out, because the kidnapping of Traders and further firing over a Hindu Dr. Pertab Roy in Larkana and once FIR registration against a Trader and businessmen, who he is the President All Traders Association Larkana are the series of clues, which indicates the center playing role some hidden hands and the ruling party leader and a trader.
MNA Muhammad Ayaz Soomro President PPP District Larkana, MNA Ramesh Lal, DIG Larkana Khadim Hussain Rind, Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Ghanwar Ali Leghari, SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai, Gadinasheen of Pir Mitha Dargah Abdul Ghaffar Sani, Dr Dharam Pal, Mulana Ali Nawaz Qasmi and others participated in meeting.
Meeting unanimously condemned the incident, decided to constitute the impartial committee comprising on two Muslims and two Hindu observers for committee to unveil the hidden hands behind the incident and award them exemplary punishment.
Later, MNA Muhammad Ayaz Soomro along with other MNA Ramesh Lal and concerned officials held joint press conference and said that it was big conspiracy against the religion and country to aggravate Muslim Hindu bloody clashes and deteriorate law and order situation of Pakistan, meeting has yielded the positive results to bring the consensus to investigate the incident by committee.
They said that situation is under control, Muslim and Hindu are living in Sindh since centuries, Sindh is soil of Sachal and Bhitai.
Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain, Sindh Chief Minister, Sindh Governor and other civil society and leaders have said that the attacks on the Mandir and properties of Hindu community were against Islam.
The also expressed sorrow over alleged burning of holy pages and ensuing violence in Larkana and appealed the religious leaders and citizens for peace and tranquility. The heave called on the government to provide protection of life and property to Hindu community and arrest the accused and take notice of the situation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Larkana Ghanwar Ali Laghari stated in the Press Release that on 15th march 2014 at about 10:00 pm, some rumors spread at Murad Wahan Larkano against a Hindu boy resident of New Leelaabad locality.
Consequently the people of the locality gathered at “Royal Chowk Larkana” and attempted to attack “Dharamshala” and tried to set it on blaze.
Rapidly responding to the situation the district administration, police and rangers rushed to the scene and successfully averted the situation from getting worse. The fire brigade staff efficiently extinguished the fire and mob was dispersed.
The police and the Rangers were deployed at all the sensitive places while police and rangers continued patrolling the city.
