Lahore: March 21, 2014. (Pervez Yousaf and A. Peter) St. Joseph’s parish Lahore Cantt., celebrated Feast of St. Josephs and Parish Day with religious fervor and warmth of faith at St. Joseph’s Church Lahore Cantt. The Holy Eucharist was offered in the Church with the presence of a large numbers of the parishioners. Rev. Fr. Clarence Hayat OFM Cap, Vice Provincial of Mariam Siddeeqa Vice Province Pakistan was the main celebrant while parish priest Rev. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap was the organizer of the feast and parish day 2014 celebration. Rev. Frs. William Basharat, Shahzada Khurram, John Joseph, Shahzad Khokhar and Francis Sabir were also present on this occasion. Parish organizations and families presented the special gifts during the offertory. The children of St. Joseph’s High School presented the school flag during the offertory. During the homily Fr. Morris Jalal OFM Cap talking about the different aspects of life of St. Joseph, said, “Whenever we read the Holy Bible, St. Joseph’s seems to be a silent character. Holy Bible reveals that St. Joseph plays an important, beautiful and positive character. The moment he comes to know that Virgin Mary is expecting he does not announce it publicly. Instead of that he decides to leave her silently. But, after receiving the awareness through the Angel he gives up his intention and brings Virgin Mary in his home. He accepts and fulfils the Supreme Will of God. He spent his entire life for the glory of God by becoming guardian of Jesus Christ and Holy Mother Mary.” He said that St. Joseph is a unique role model for the entire humanity. On this occasion 150 children received first Holy Communion. A special prayer session for the sick led by Fr. Francis Sabir was also organized on this occasion. A cake cutting ceremony to mark the parish day was also carried out at the end of the Mass and certificates were distributed to all the children who received their first Holy Communion. Fr. Shahzad Khokhar on behalf of Fr. Francis Nadeem thanked all the parishioners for their participation on this joyful occasion and greeted children and their parents for receiving First Holy Communion.
