Bellabarba, Italy; April 15, 2014. (PCP) Adopted unanimously, this morning in the regional council, the motion presented with some colleagues from Letizia Bellabarba , Regional Councillor Democratic Party, to ask the Italian government to intervene with the Pakistani Government and ask for the repeal of the blasphemy law in Pakistan. Here's the note from the counselor about the situation in Pakistan. The complaint of the President of the Federation of the Italian Associations in Pakistan Adan Farhaj Bakhsh , who has asked for our support , is clear. This law provides for the death penalty in Pakistan for those who fail to respect the Prophet Muhammad, but it is often sold and used for private purposes, crashing in particular against religious minorities in Pakistan. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion are a fundamental right of every individual: we cannot remain indifferent. For her black law defined the former governor of Punjab Salmon Taseer was assassinated January 4, 2011 at the hands of Islamic extremists ; for similar reasons, was killed on 2 March of the same year also the former minister for religious minorities , Shahbaz Bhatti, a Christian, that following the first convictions asked to see her again saying that the blasphemy law is often used as a tool to resolve issues personal ; 85% of the cases are false ; Sawan Masih is one of the latest victims of this law, sentenced to death for unjust accusations of blasphemy ; an entire Christian village was burned ; Masih Sawan , Shagufta Shafqat and Emmanuel , Asia Bibi are just some of those who are unjustly detained , on which weighs a death sentence for blasphemy. Every nation should raise their voice against these injustices and to insist on the Pakistani government for the release of imprisoned innocent and the abolition of this unjust law that stifles the essence of freedom.
