Sialkot: April 26, 2014. (PCP) On Easter Sunday, April 20th, 2014 in village Malleyki near Daska city, Sialkot district in Pakistan 8-year-old Christian girl Saira was shopping at the grocery store as usual when suddenly three Muslim boys appeared, tied her eyes and took her to an unknown location and brutally raped her. At home the girl told her mother everything. When the girl's mother went to the village leader Chauhdry and demanded justice, he asked her to wait for two days. Two days passed and nothing happened - the story was not reported to the police. It might not be a coincidence, since all three perpetrators were Chauhdry's family members, one of them his own son, all belonging to the caste which is rich and highly privileged.
Poor girl’s family let know about Saira’s horrific experience to other villagers and those tried to help by calling the media and informing District Police Officer (DPO). When Chauhdry and his clan came to know that TV media and DPO were coming, they asked policemen of another police station to kidnap the girl's father, Iqbal Masih, forcing him by death threats not to press charges against them.
When media and DPO came, they just promised the family that they will inform about the facts so justice will be done, but finally no media told the true story. Some stated the culprit was only single and even Christian!
Saira is now in Sialkot hospital in critical condition, in the intensive care unit. Whole her family is in tears because Chauhdry expelled them from the village and still keep receiving death threats from Chaudry's clan. Although the police arrested the culprits, one of them has already been released on bail and Chauhdry’s family keep trying to release two others as well.
No proper justice is about to be done because the afflicted family is Christian.
