Karachi: May 5, 2014. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC announced here today in a statement released by PCC Central Secretariat that PCC will launch a campaign “Free Asia Bibi” on International level in which petitions will filed with US Congress, EU, Amnesty International, Human Right Watch, UN Human Right Commission and EU Human Right Commission urging to put pressure on Government of Pakistan to repeal blasphemy law and release of Asia Bibi. Asia Bibi, a Christian mother of five was sentenced to death on accusation of blasphemy in 2009, and her appeal is delayed for hearing in Lahore High Court since 2010. After Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Group PML (N) taking helm of power in 2013, the judiciary of Pakistan is under immense of pressure of Muslim extremists and new decree from Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan that “Life Sentence for blasphemer is un-Islamic and only Death Sentence may be awarded to all arrested under Section 295 B and C PPC” the lower courts have sentenced to death Blasphemy victims Sawan Masih and Christian couple Shagufta Kasur and Shafqat Emmanuel within two months period in year 2014. PCC Chief said “Pakistani Christian fear that all accused under blasphemy law will be sentenced to death now and justice will not be ensured in higher courts also” Asia Bibi was shifted to Multan Jail from Sheikhupura District jail because there was no cell for death row women and Shagufta Kasur also shifted from Toba Tek Singh jail to Jhang Jail as Toba Jail not have woman death row cell. It clarifies intentions of Pakistan Administration to hang to death these Christian women who are falsely accused of defiling name of Holy Prophet of Muslims. The Christian and Ahamadiyyia communities are targeted by blasphemy law of Pakistan to settle personal scores by Muslims. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that “Free Asia Bibi” campaign will be step to repeal blasphemy law and victimization under blasphemy law will be brought in notice of International forums. May 27, 2014, is next date of hearing of appeal of Asia Bibi in Lahore High Court but it seems that justice will not be ensured. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that Pakistani Christian need true struggle of true organizations to repeal blasphemy laws in Pakistan. Pakistan Christian Congress PCC is only political group which filed lawsuit to repeal blasphemy law in Lahore High Court and appealed in Supreme Court of Pakistan.
