Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) Overseas Training Program

Karachi: June 2, 2014. (By Khuram Pervez) Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) in order to animate young lay faithful to empower local Church in Pakistan sent three people to Philippines to attend a summer Trainer’s Training Course to ministers engaged in the Biblical Pastoral Ministry. Among them were one which was sent by Maktaba-e-Anaweem Pakistan (MAP). It was 15-days training program on Introduction of Holy Bible, in which provided information about Sacred Scripture, Liturgy, Encyclical letter of Holy Father, Recite of Holy Bible and direct use of Lectionary, Practice of Prayer by Recite of Holy Bible and geographical studies of Old and New Testament. During this training arranged 3-days workshop regarding Bibliodrama, in which provided guidance of Praise the Lord by dancing and physical movement as well as for making strength of religious life. More than 60 people participated belongs to all dioceses of Philippines in this training. This course was supervised under guidance of Bishop Renato Pine Mayugba, Bishop of the diocese of Laoag the first Zone of Philippines. They attended another three days program at Divine Mercy Asia Center of Formation & Spirituality. The theme of this course was “The Divine Mercy Message & Spirituality for The Third Millennium.” This course was arranged in attractive place Tagaytay on 5-7 May 2014. The participants were Ms. Shabna m Raphael from the Archdiocese of Lahore, Ms. Zubia George from the Diocese of Hyderabad, Sr. Azar Rozi SCJM where as Mr. Khuram Pervez from the Archdiocese of Karachi. The main objective of this training program was to give biblical pastoral training to the young lay faithful arranged by diocese of Laoag established in surrounding area of Philippines. They visited many places in surrounding area of their reach including St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Church of Paoay historic church built in 1593 by St. Augustine missionary diocese of Laoag, in 1724 built the largest church St. Monica ilocos and St. Cruz Parish, Church of St. Juan Del Monte in Manila. They deeply observed national office of FABC, Human Recourses, active and dynamic churches of Manila staying in St. Roque Parish in particular. They were amazed to see the architecture and spiritual atmosphere of the churches as well as engaged groups in church services.. Fr. Bonnie Mendis (Coordinator of Caritas Asia) accompanied them to many palces including Little sisters of Jesus, Sister Adorers Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of charity (AASC) and Fathers of the Holy Cross. They provided useful information about role of Pakistani Church as minority in Muslim milieu, National Politics, Social conditions and religious freedom. They shared about activities, services, Training and Formation programs and publication of Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) and Maktaba Anaveem Pakistan (MAP) to local churches of Philippines. Fr. Bonnie Mendis. Sr. Mary Anaveem and Fr. Mir Yuqas were their source of inspiration and guidance overseas whereas Fr. Emmanuel Asi, the Executive Secretary of Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) was their keystone in making and guiding each and everything while in Pakistan.
