Islamabad: June 12, 2014. (PCP) World Minorities Alliance held a conference “Give Rights to Minorities in Pakistan OR Poison” today in front of National Press Club, Islamabad. PML-N MNA, Dr Ramesh kumar Vankwani has said that the problems and demands of slum residents are legal and they can be resolved anyhow, when he was addressing the conference. He said that I don’t consider the people as politician who draw line between majority and minority, anyone from minority is equally respectable and patriotic as one from majority. No discrimination at all is allowed here in Pakistan if Pakistan is made on the name of law and constitution because our constitution provides equal rights to everyone and allowed no discrimination with any Hindu, Sikh, Christian and Muslim, he said. He said that it’s the duty of every government to provide shelter to every citizen of the country, if the colonies or housing societies can be built for officers on large scale than why we can’t spare the land of a few acres for poor people of slums. It’s not possible to make minorities deprived from their basic and political rights, its commitment of our government and PML N. Convener World Minorities Alliance J Salik also addressed the conference and said that major cruelty with minorities is that their election doesn’t exist and minorities have no right to choose their representatives, he said. He said that people sitting in air conditioned environment can’t be the representatives of poor because they are representing their political parties as they came with selection method firstly and secondly they have no interest and no concern with the hassles of minorities or poor. The government is occupying the properties of minorities illegally for long time, he said. He said that Minority Ministry is dissolved under eighteenth amendment in the constitution and in this respect the trivial fund of five crore is also snatched as well. He further said that the life of a sanitary worker is worse than a street dog even, as sanitation department is privatized by giving it to a Turkish Company on contract, whereas it was the only department in which poor people from minority could get a chance of government job otherwise only all other departments are occupied by the majority people. After snatching all the above stuff, they are not satisfied and now trying to snatch the shelter of poor people to make them homeless whereas it’s the first article of our constitution that to provide shelter to every citizen is the basic responsibility of state, he said. He said that such sort of cruelties on minorities can’t be bear furthermore, it’s the time of decision today and government has to decide that we can give rights to minorities or should we give them poison, because it’s better to give them poison than to make their life worst and miserable by snatching their own rights. He said that if every citizen is equal and have equal rights on all the facilities available than why the residents of slums only, are deprived and have no access to these facilities of life. It’s over and minorities can’t bear anymore, there is no other choice rather to provide them rights to sustain the peace in the country.
