LAHORE: August 12, 2014. (PCP) LEAD along with family of victim protested Tuesday after complaints of police not investigating fairly in the case of a twelve-year-old Christian girl's rape. Liaqat Masih has four daughters and four work in homes as maids, His wife also work in a home as a maid. He has one minor daughter 12-year-old Muqadas, she also works in a home as maid. On August 2, 2014 at about 14:00 PM when Muqadas and her elder sister Asma were coming back home from work, Muqadas was forcibly kidnaped by two men and three unknown women. They took her in a school building and two men, namely Ashraf Alias Achi and Ghaffor Alias Paida, raped her one by one. The FIR No.991/2014 at Police Station Baghban Pura, Lahore registered under section 376 PPC against the alleged rapists. One rapist was arrested and another one sought interim bail from court in tomorrow is hearing. LEAD is following this case and giving legal assistance. On Monday, Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill, a human Rights Defender and Chief of LEAD along with Aric John, Advocate High Court met the victim at their home and prayed for the victim Christian girl and her family. We hope that this minor Christian girl will get justice. "We are being threatened by the one rapist who is on bail to withdraw the case", said Liqat father of rape victim girl. In Pakistan, rape is used as a weapon against Christian’s girls who are marginalized and poor. These girls mostly work in homes as maids. It is seen that the rest of society stays quiet because it is not happening in their own backyard. We are witness that rapists are never brought to justice because of forcible compromise and otherwise. The rape victims face terrible difficulties; they have not received proper treatment for their sexual assaults and many currently lie in hospitals or in their homes. Their families are being denied justice every day and become Psycho patients. We at LEAD are working on the ground in Pakistan.
