Rawalpindi: October 15, 2014. (PCP) Court adjourned case hearing till October 29, 2014, because of the non-appearance of Ghazla Khan (co-accused) Zafar Bhatti blasphemy case in Rawalpindi. On the last court hearing on October 01, 2014 the court issued arrest warrants for Ghazala Khan as she has missed last number of case hearings in Session’s Court Rawalpindi. Today again she was not present in the court while Clerk of her lawyer Parvaiz Khan was in the court who informed the court that Parvaiz Khan is Zafar Bhatti’s lawyer and he cannot come to the court because of his other business. The Court replied that Tahir Bashir has submitted power of attorney in the court on behalf of Zafar Bhatti on May 21, 2014, which superseded the power of attorney submitted by Pervaiz Khan. The court has decided to take legal action against Ghazla Khan under section 87 C.r.p.c (Criminal Procedure of Pakistan) and declared her absconded. As we have repeatedly mentioned that the case is now in the evidence process as the complainant has to provide evidence against Zafar Bhatti to prove charge that he committed blasphemy. Another reason that court was adjourned; there was no evidence present from complainant side to record statements against Zafar Bhatti. Note: According to the record of the court Pervaiz Khan and Muhammad Saddique submitted power of attorney to present Zafar Bhatti case on 31 August 2013. Later on September 29, 2013 they submitted power of attorney on behalf of Ghazla Khan as well and after filling the power of Attorney no one of the returned to the court to pursue the case. When there was long ignorance of the lawyers, the court asked Zafar Bhatti about his lawyer and also suggested to help him by providing state lawyer as his defense lawyer. Continue missing dates of court hearings in May, 2014 Zafar Bhatti’s family again approached CLAAS for legal assistance. On May 21, 2014 Mr. Tahir Bashir Advocate High Court (legal advisor CLAAS) submitted his power of attorney in the court for the representation of Zafar Bhatti. Now, because there are two organizations claiming the legal representation of Zafar Bhatti therefore today on October 15, 2014 during the court hearing CLAAS Director Mr. Joseph Francis requested the court to ask Zafar Bhatti in Jail during his jail trail which one is his lawyer. Just to clear few misunderstandings among people who working for the same cause. It is also worth mentioned here that the complaint of Zafar Bhatti case named Abrar Ahmad Khan was also present in the court along with his 3 lawyers Muhammad Yasir advocate, Syed Shoaib Gillani Advocate and Hafiz Waqar Ahmad Awan Advocate who submitted their fresh power of attorney in the court during today court hearing. Please remember that Waheed Anjum Advocate was the earlier opponent lawyer of Zafar Bhatti.
