LAHORE: October 19, 2014. (PCP) A Christian boy namely Akram Masih's family ,including females ,was severely beaten and tortured by Policemen and extremists in Multan, these policemen entered his home by climbing on the walls. They arrested the boy and put him under its custody because he had contracted marriage with Muslim girl namely Maria Bibi, who is from District Shiekhupura.
Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Human Rights Defender, Chief of LEAD was informed by Moderator Bishop Asher Kamran, Methodist Church of Pakistan, Multan and Bishop also requested for legal assistance for his release. He also told that he already had written a request application to IG Punjab, Lahore to dismiss the false FIR No.1093/2014 registered at Police Station Factory Area, Shiekhupura in which the boy was arrested and the police had also booked one Christian relative of the boy from Lahore.
The Christian boy from Multan and the Muslim girl from Sheikhupura fell in love with each other on phone. The girl left his home and went to see his lover to Multan where they both got married according to Islamic Sharia. The boy, Muslim name Muhammad Akram, converted from Christian to Muslim to save himself and his family from police and extremists but the conversion proved useless on his arrest.
The police took the couple and one other arrested man from Multan and the locked up in Police Station Factory Area, Shiekhupura.
The father of other arrested Christian man namely Kherait Masih also contacted with Aric John, Advocate High Court, and senior counsel of LEAD, for legal assistance for his son who is totally innocent.
Mr. Gill along with Aric John contacted with the concerned SHO and handed over him all documents for proof of the marriage of the couple and conversion of the Christian boy from Christian to Muslim, on this the SHO told that they would make appear the boy in the court of Mr. Matieon Rehman, Judicial Magistrate, Tehsil Courts Ferozwala, District Shiekhupura for recording the statement of the girl under section 164 Cr. PC and if the girl would give the statement in the favour of the boy, the police would release them.
Next day, the police made appeared the both arrested Christian in the court where the pressure from the extremists was developed on the court. Mr. Gill was also instructed and directed by the other fellows lawyers of the concerned Bar Association for to be careful because two days before in the same kind of case one man shot dead in the court premise during hearing.
The couple was given chance in front of the magistrate to can talk each other by ordering the both sides lawyers to vacate the court room but the girl betrayed him and recorded her statement against the Christian boy with tears. The both Christian boys sent for judicial lockup. The boy disclosed to Mr. Gill that the girl was threatened by her family that if she would give the statement in his favour, they would kill the both. He satisfied himself by saying that she had saved his life by recording the statement against him.
It is forbidden in Islamic Sharia for a Muslim woman to get married with a Christian man and other religion but Muslim man is allowed to get married with a Christian girl, but it is permitted for Muslim woman to get married with Christian after his conversion from Christian to Muslim. In Pakistan, the level of religious extremism is too high to tolerate the marriage between a Christian man and Muslim woman even if a Christian to convert to Islam.
This is the main reason of lack of religious liberty and freedom and grave violation of fundamental and human rights in Pakistan and also the main cause of Christian persecution and misuse of Islamic Blasphemy Law to persecute the religious minorities.
