Lahore: December 12, 2014. (Fr. Inayat Bernard & Salman Tariq) 21st November programme took place in St. John Mary Vianey Hall, St. Mary’s Minor seminary Lahore. This programme was about contribution of Christians in the medical field programme was presided over by professor Doctor Mariam Richards and speaker was Amina Nazia yausaf (health consultant the Salvation Army). First program was introduced by Fr. Samuel George, Who is a staff Member of seminary. The programme started with prayer. Then Fr Samuel invited Amina Yousaf. She said that Christians are serving the people before the establishment of Pakistan. First of all she told about the persons who got different awards. Gold Christian medal: was given to Dr. Benjamin Joseph and Dr. John, Dr. Semi, Dr. Heer, Dr. W Sultan and Dr. Sarhadi were awarded with Pakistan award. Pakistan civilian award was given to Dr. Ruth Phau. Dr. Ruth was specialist of lepers. After Ruth that Hospital was entrusted to sisters Daughter of heart of Mary. Now a day this hospital is curing a lot of patients. According to the survey 4,000 people get healing from lepers. The employers are lepers as well. Those people who served are not Christians. UCH Hospital In 1956 a Canadian Dr. Donal Boss operated such a patient who was able operated from Heart Surgery in 1957. In 1965 the open heart surgery being happend by the same Doctor. In 1969 the patient was cured who was suffering from the walls of heart. Christian memorial Sialkot Hospital was constructed in 1886 and in 1996 when Zia-ul-Haq was president he appreciated the Christians. On diamond Jubilee of christian memorial hospital. The first eye Hospital was constructed by Christians in Quetta, and Sir Henry Boner was awarded with Quid-e-Azam award. CHAP Christian Hospitals Association Pakistan All the heads of Christian hospitals made a meeting every year. In previous years this Month on Nov 17, 18, 19, the meeting has been held. In this meeting it is said that we make camps in the time of disasters. Christian compounds are used to help the sick and ill people the missionaries started the Nursing department and in the beginning there were only the Christian nurses because they did their work by heart and soul. NAS: Nursing Association Sindh. Amina said that she was also awarded by NAS. Medical fellowship: Medical fellowship is that in which any person from any religion and nation can take part. Then the Gospel (Luke 8:40-56) was read by Raneel Mehboob than Fr. Inayat Bernard gave a short Introduction about Bethania Hospital. Doctor Professor Mariam Richard said today need is to be educated and if you want to be educated we have to make sacrifices. She said that figures can be forgotten but not stories. She is a professor in Fatima Jinnah medical college. She told about Professor Rose Marala that she is a legend in college and for Christians as well she is the doctor of sciences of physiology. She told about three healths. 1. Spiritual Health 2. Physical Health 3. Emotional Health Sitting in the Hall as Seminarians and other sisters she advised “you should grow in your spiritual health so that you may help others to grow in their spiritual health’’ Ms. Aamina said that we the Christians are golden heritage of Pakistan. At the end the guests were served with simple tea.
