Lahore: January 3, 2015. (PCP) On 6 December,2014 at evening about 06:00 PM Nusrat Bibi along with her sister Rani Bibi and one her daughter and niece was going back home from a factory and when they reached near their home Toka Wala Chowk, Village Satokitla. A Muslim man, Khawar Khokhar started hooting and molesting to her daughter. On this she made him stopped to do this and the man became enraged and started to beat them with cricket bat. He held her daughter by hand and warned them to do whatever they could; he tried to take her daughter forcibly. She defended her daughter and saved from him then he took a cricket bat and started to beat them. She and her sister Rani were severely beaten and resultantly her clothes were got torn and left arm's bone and two fingers of left hand were broken and her sister also got injured. No one from the neighbors came forward to save them due to the man's political influentially and from his criminal background. Every one locked their doors. After all this brutality they threw that lady on the pile of garbage and flew away. After a long protest by family and on the intervention of activists, the FIR No.1124 under sections 337/5-6 and 354 PPC has been registered on dated 13 December,2014 at Police Station Satokitla, Lahore, but no fair investigation is being conducted by Police and they are also giving favour to accused by making no raid to arrest him instead the accused and police officials are making pressure on her for compromise and the family have received several threats from Muslim man's telling them to drop the charges or face dire consequences. The women of religious minorities are easy target of violence in the form of physical torture particularly against Christians, in general, is increasing in Pakistan since after 9/11 incident. The issue of prejudice arises in a country where the Christians are a small minority in Pakistan; they represent only 1.6% of the 180 million Pakistanis 96% Muslims. An unforgettable incident which occurred just a few weeks ago, there was international outrage after a Christian husband and wife in Pakistan were beaten and burnt alive to death for allegedly desecration of the Koran. The Christian woman, Shama Bibi, already a mother of three, was four months pregnant at that time. Recently one man requested Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Human Rights Defender for the support their children and also for the role of LEAD for legal assistance in this case. Yesterday, Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill, Human Rights Defender, Chief of LEAD , got a phone call from Tariq Seraaj Advocate and he requested for legal assistance in a case of a Christian woman who was severely beaten by a Muslim man and resultantly her clothes were got torn and left arm's bone and two fingers of left hand were broken. He told that the accused Jafar Khokhar had filed his pre arrest bail petition in Additional and sessions Court Lahore in which date of hearing had been fixed for January 2, 2015.
