Karachi: January 23, 2015. (PCP) A minorities delegation, headed by Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council and MNA Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has met with the high-ups of Sindh Administration on Friday. According to a press statement issued, the meeting was in the context of recent Supreme Court orders on January 13 in which Provincial and Federal Government was asked to consult Pakistan Hindu Council regarding the protection of Minorities rights.
Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, Secretary Law, Secretary Education, Secretary Minorities, Secretary Information, Secretary Culture, Secretary Local Government and Secretary General Administration represented the Government of Sindh while all commissioners and IGs Police across the province were also present.
Secretary Education briefed the participants that curriculum for the class 1 to 5 has been changed while the change for the primary to graduation was under process. In addition, Dr. Ramesh Kumar and Bishop Daniel Sadiq will be soon briefed regarding the appointment of Hindu teachers in schools and educational institutes as well.
Secretary General Administration assured the Hindu delegation that all minorities holy places would be registered within a period of one month and to ensure security, Special Task Force for the Protection of Minorities will be formed within one month, adding that advertisements for the recruitment will be issued soon.He further said that a letter will be issued to all government offices to ensure 5% quota in government jobs for minorities and 2% for disabled and special persons. On the occasion, Secretary Information said that no advertisement would be released without checking the details related to quote in the content.
Secretary Local Government, while presenting his view on NADRA Certificates, was of the view that the mistakes, rectified by Dr. Ramesh Kumar, will be corrected on urgent basis. On the issue of granting control of Hindu Gymkhana, Secretary Culture and Secretary Minorities will conduct another detailed meeting with Dr. Ramesh and latter brief the participants.
The Government officials agreed that Secretary Law will play his due role to pass the Hindu Marriage Act Bill and Sindh Police will itself register the FIR under the blasphemy laws, in case of any future attack on religious holy places.
The minutes of meeting will be presented to the Supreme Court during the next hearing.
