UK: February 1, 2015. (PCP) The World Sindhi Congress WSC is deeply grieving the huge loss of Sindhi people from the atrocious attack of religious extremists. As a result of an alleged suicide attack on an Imambargah in Shikarpur, more than 60 people have been killed and more than 50 are seriously injured. All the news sources confirm that the number of martyred people is definitely going to rise. WSC considers this event an attack on sufi Sindh and Sindhi people. The entire Sindhi nation is in mourning. WSC believes that the heart-wrenching and barbaric incident is the direct result of Pakistan’s establishment. Their systematic policies of social-engineered religious extremism and violence in Secular Sindh range from state sponsored spread of madrsahs to settling hundreds of thousands of people from Swat, Waziristan, and Afghanistan in new to import religious intolerance and violence. WSC also believes that the only real voice against the military courts has emerged from Sindh, and as a result of this massacre, they want to weaken and curb this voice, as well and justify their onslaught on democratic nationalist forces of Sindhi people. WSC requests the entire Sindhi nation and all Sindhi political parties, intellectuals, writers, human rights activists and civil societies to rise, coordinate, unite and act to save the thousands-year-old secular fabric of our Sindh that we all are proud of, the same tolerance and unity that the establishment-sponsored extremists are bent to torn apart. In the wake of one of the worst events that have struck Sindh in recent history, WSC hopes and believes that the Sindhi diaspora will unite to oppose the designs of divide in Sindh that attempt to weaken Sindhi people and their secular beliefs. WSC seriously condemns the known and hidden perpetrators of these violent acts and strongly demands from the Sindh government to show some courage and take some serious action in the face of this tragedy.
