Seminarians fast and read the Bible for Yuhananabd Tragedy

Lahore: March 16, 2015. (Fr. Inayat Bernard) “We are offering today’s Bible reading in Lent for the victims of the two bomb blasts at St. John‘s Catholic church and Church of Pakistan’s Christ Church on 15th of March at 1145.a.m” Fr. Inayat Bernard told the students before the Bible redoing that so far 15 people have been died and over 70 wounded have been admitted on Jinnah and other hospitals of the Lahore city. He condemned the ones who attacked the two Churches and also the ones who burned the two terrorists in Yuhanabad in reaction to the bomb blasts. He appreciated the police who gave their lives to save many people and did not allow the terrorist at the Catholic Church to enter while the other terrorists was successful to enter the compound of the Christ Church. The Archbishop of Lahore Sebastian F. Shaw OFM visited along with the other priests, religious and social leaders and the seminarians as well and went to both the affected churches and prayed for the deceased and the wounded. He told the media present there that the faithful should not be called dead but martyrs because they were gathered for the purpose of the Sunday services. He appealed to the faithful along with the Bishop of Lahore Irfan Jamil to remain calm and do not make protests in violent way. Although the youngsters had broken and looted the shops and damaged the Metro station which was unchristian acts. On Monday all the Christian institutions and seminaries were closed at the call of the Archbishop of Karachi who is also the chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan; His Grace Joseph Coutts. On the same day protest took place by the fathers, Sisters, laity and the Franciscan, Capuchin students and the seminarians. In the press conference under the president ship of Hafiz Mehmood Ashrafi and the bomb blasts were condemned and it was also condemned to burn two person after the bomb blasts and breakage of the Metro bus station. The Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Muslims and asked to join hands to fight the terrorism in Pakistan.
