(PCP) The Green Force, a group of environmentalists, in collaboration with the Green Volunteers and Waste Busters, will organize an event with the sponsorship of Nestle, to clean up the Korang River and raise awareness about the threats to the environment, on the 26th of April (Sunday) at 2:30 pm. About a hundred students from the schools of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are being mobilized for the clean up campaign of the heavily-polluted Korang River, said a press statement issued on Friday.
Teams consisting of 10 children each, would work for one and a half hour to collect garbage, put them in bags, followed by brief speeches, refreshment and distribution of prizes for the winning team that collects the most amount of garbage.
Although the "Keep Korang Klean" campaign is entirely non-political with a noble cause to combat environmental challenges, but a number of political and public figures, according to organizers, would attend as guests to boost the morale of participants. The officials from the CDA Environment Directorate and the Environment Protection Agency are also invited as well to witness and participate.
The event will be open to media and journalists are encouraged to reach the meeting point at Sports Complex at 2:00 pm sharp on Sunday (April 26), from where all buses will proceed to the Korang River clean up site.
