No court hearings: unknown arrested officials for a long.

KARACHI: May 31, 2015. (Nazir Siyal) The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested several innocents and retired officials of various organizations in major cases to probe since long and behind the bars for several months, but major convicts in the cases are still free sources disclosed. The Supreme Court of Pakistan had also took notice of the NAB authorities for hearing and expressed dissatisfaction over its performance asked NAB, whether they have immunity in this regard. Sources confirmed that there are several officials are behind the bars and arrested them but no hearings have been sought by them for a long in different cases in country. It is also pertinent to be mentioned here that the NAB has disclosed his performance on website showing PDF progress file, NAB had deposited national exchequer total Rs. 6715.389 million, while their (NAB) expenditures are Rs. 10599.71 against regular performance since 1999-2001 to 2014-15 respectively. On the other hand NAB on web reported the recoveries Voluntary Returns showing Rs. 1643 million in 2009, Rs. 2176.6 in 2010, Rs. 901.4 in 2011, Rs. 5220.8 in 2012, Rs. 3124 2013 and Rs. 2793.42 in 2014, which is a total of Rs. 15859.22 million. When contacted media officials of NAB they were unknown about the progress reports and other details when this scribe asked to provide details. Whereas, according to the Chairman NAB has recovered Rs 262 billion since its inception and deposited in national exchequer in his press statements earlier. He said NAB Pakistan in the last 20 years has achieved its best Corruption Perception Index (CPI) from 175 to 126 issued by the Transparency International. He told NAB made serious efforts for eradication of corruption and chalked out a very comprehensive National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS).
