Karachi: June 20, 2015. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have expressed grave concern on denying cases of Pakistani Christian Asylum seekers by UNHCR Bangkok office declaring that Blasphemy Law is not threat to their life and property in Pakistan when such laws carry capital punishment which have been condemned by Secretary General of UN Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Human Right Commission of UN, EU, US Commission on International Religious Freedom and other International Human Right Forums whenever Churches are set on fire, Christian worshipers are gunned down, suicide bombers have killed hundreds in Churches, Christians are burnt alive, Christian colonies have been attacked and innocent Christians are put behind bars on pretext to blasphemy laws. Nazir Bhatti said that Blasphemy law of Pakistan are used as weapon against Christians by majority of Muslims while government of Pakistan always failed to protect life and property of Christians and to stop misuse of this law against religious minorities; In such circumstances decision of UNHCR to declare that blasphemy law is not harmful for Christians is total denial of fact and figures. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti demanded Mr. Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of UN and UN Commissioner on Refugees to immediately intervene by issuing directives to UNHCR Bangkok office in Thailand to not twist facts and to declare blasphemy law not threat to life of Christian asylum seekers but to decide their refugee cases on true humanitarian grounds. Nazir Bhatti warned that if any Christian is sent back to Pakistan or forced to go back to Pakistan after substandard handling of cases of Pakistani Christian Asylum seekers by UNHCR and they are targeted by Pakistani government or extremist Muslim then UNHCR will be responsible for any loss of life.
