LARKANA/SUKKUR: July 23, 2015 (Nazir Siyal) Over 200 villages submerged after 4.0 million cusec deluge at Guddu, while 15 giant main existing doors of Sukkur Barrage are still out of order and centered mud-island of Indus still alarming.
Pakistan Rangers Wing commander Col. Nadeem along with administration visited various sensitive parts of Aqil Agani, Morialo, Nsurat, Ruk and other Indus River dykes to monitor the situation before deluge pressure over the next 4 to 5 days.
Talking to this scribe official of irrigation Sukkur and Larkana told that they have took all the precautionary measures to face the situation and the patrolling is round the clock in the different regions.
They also told that it is true that about 4 Pesso-Meters installed at Sukkur barrages are out of order but it is measures the pressure of the flood, so that we need to focus the deluge strength and monitoring of embankments at different locations he said.
The irrigation official Wali Mohammed Naich also confirmed that there is problem of centered mud-island at Sukkur Barrage to divert the water other side normally, but we need not worry about it will remove by the deluge pressure he told.
He said the remaining Sukkur Barrage giant-doors opened and there would be no issue of impeding flood water in River Indus. The Rangers have been deployed at various sensitive embankments to monitor all the activities jointly.
There are number of villages in the Katcha areas have been inundated at various locations of Kashmore, Kandhkot, Ghotki, Khairpur, Larkana after 4.5 lac flood water level increase in Guddu-Kashmore, the local administration yet setting up the tent city at various existing points of Aqil Agani and other locations.
The reports of breach at Sarfraz protective-band at Tori have been received, but it was not confirmed.
Whereas, the Sindh people are suffering due to shortage of irrigation water at various locations, the tail-end growers’ protests for irrigation water shortage continued in different parts of province here on Thursday.
