LARKANA: July 31, 2015. (Nazir Siyal) Sindh Katcha areas have become the water-world due to heavy flood, people helpless climbed over the trees. Panic gripped living in 40 Union Councils of Larkana, Ghotki, Khairpur, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Sukkur, Dadu Mehar, K.N Shah to Kotri and others.
The water level continues rising at Sukkur, Larkana and Kotri barrages, there is still a high-level flood at Sukkur Barrage and the hundreds of thousands of affectees are forced to survive under open sky. it is now impossible for the affected people to move to safer places due to surrounded the sea of floodwaters.
The authorities had already warned the isolated places people and their cattle to leave immediately. Local administration has also demanded of the Pak Army and Navy to take efforts for evacuation of people and provide boats.
In a current data by PDMA on Friday told that over 244 villages in Larkana and Sukkur have been completely submerged and removed and total of 163157 have been displaced and livestock too, while floodwater inundated hundreds of villages in Dadu-Jamshoro and Kotri Katcha areas and directed Thatta, Sujawal, Bain Reverine Katcha areas to move to the camps immediately due to floodwater souring towards tail-end after inundation.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported over 22 Union Councils submerged only in Larkana and Sukkur areas a day before and warned the affected people to move safe places. According to the PDMA, they have provided over 11100 Tents, mosquito Nets 76000, mosquito repellent 17200 bottles, de-watering machines/pumps 53, boats 39, water tanks 20, solar L.E.D 150, Jerry-Cain 2000 and cart 2500 to the sensitive and affected districts of province.
The high flood at Guddu, Sukkur towards Kotri barrage, it was recorded 585927 upstream and 582237 cusecs water flow and Sukkur water flow was 540300 cusecs and 523250 cusecs respectively. The Kotri barrage upstream was recorded 2034467 cusecs and 200857 cusecs water flow in Indus River on the occasion.
According to the current data of river Indus at Taunsa was 526819 cusecs flood and and about same downstream. The water flow at Tarbela was 362,200 cusecs and 333000 cusecs water flow. Water level at Kabul was recorded 103700 cusecs, Kalabagh water flow 395576 cusecs and 3887976 cusecs downstream. Chashma recorded 466130 cusecs and water flow was 461630 cusecs.
While Mangla has been recorded 123635 cusecs water level and downstream 65864 cusecs, Tremu recorded at 145685 cusecs and 134715 cusecs water flow. Panjanad water level was 138590 cusecs and 135090 cusecs water level recorded respectively.
