Islamabad: August 26, 2015. (PCP) Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Chairman, Senate Defence Committee has praised the consistent and courageous commitment for freedom on the part of the Kashmiri people who continued to suffer all kinds of sacrifices for their just cause. He was exchanging views during the dinner hosting in honor of a visiting delegation of journalists from Indian occupied Kashmir, here. During his welcoming remarks, Senator Mushahid Hussain warmly expressed gratitude to "our Kashmiri brothers and sisters" and said that long before the so called "Arab Spring", the Kashmiri people came out on the streets of Srinagar including teenage boys and girls to bravely face the bayonets and bullets of the Indian army. Talking about Pakistan-India relations, he said that the problem was confusion in New Delhi about the Pakistan policy of Narendra Modi who seemed to be motivated by extremist Hindutva agenda that was divisive and rooted in the past. He said that India itself is suffering because of Modi's confusion and U-turns and the communal agenda of the Indian government has divided Kashmiri society because the Indian government is also seeking demographic changes in occupied Kashmir. Senator Mushahid Hussain categorically conveyed that as far as Pakistan is concerned, the commitment of the people of Pakistan to the Kashmiri cause is unwavering and Pakistan will not accept any talks with India minus Kashmir because he said that the issue has 3 parties to the dispute including Pakistan, India and the Kashmiri people. He also added Kashmir has historically been part of the ancient Silk Road and Kashmiri culture and Kashmiri cuisine as well as many leading sufis, saints and scholars who came into the South Asian sub-continent through the Kashmir valley. The impact of Kashmir and its identity is not just strategic but also historical and cultural, he concluded. The meeting was followed by a comprehensive Q&A session.
