Faisalabad: October 20, 2015. (PCP) Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) condemned the possession of land and life threats to James Maish due to his religious and belief practice. The family of James Masih was subjected to brutal physical violence multiple times by local landlords. James Masih is a retired army soldier and is residing in a village of Punjab. After retirement, with provident fund he constructed a house in the village and become active also to help the local Christian community, morally, socially and religiously. Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Thekedar (local landlord) captured their property and started harmful acts against James Masih and family.
The main attack on family was recorded when the head of family, James Masih was out of his house for an urgent work, only the women were present in the house, the culprits forcibly entered into the house and subjected physical violence to his family particularly the daughter ( Shakeela ) and wife (Naseem bibi) of James Masih became serious injured. Due to attacks and death threats, the whole family successfully fled from the village however the culprits followed them continuously.
The victim takes stand for justice and James Masih registered FIR (First Investigation Report) at local Police Station against culprits but no action taken by police. The victim’s family with the help of HRFP submitted the writ petition in court as HRFP providing legal aid and other possible assistance to them.
