Pakistani Sikh community protest on arrest of former PGPC leader

Lahore: December 20, 2015. (PCP) The government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan enters in fight with peaceful Sikh community after long standing issues with Christians and Hindus. According to a press note “Sikh Community in Nankana Sahib launched street protest against arresting of Ex-president Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Purbhandhak Committee (PGPC). One FIR was launched by Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) against Mastan Singh last night. The Pakistani Sikh Community requested international community and Human Rights organizations to pressurize the Government for immediately release of Mastan Singh. It was also reported that FIR was launched in City Thana and Mastan Singh was jailed in Saddar Thana, which is illegal and unconstitutional. The two SHO of Saddar Thana and City Thana were also replaced by ETPB for not obeying their orders, ETPB, after replacing SHO then they arrested Mastan Singh, it was also reported that police not allowing Sikhs to go from their homes Mastan Singh and Sikh Community in Nankana Sahib on 25 November Wednesday during 547th birthday anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak circled Evacuee Trust Property Board’s (ETPB) Chairman Siddiqueul Farooq and launched protest for not being permitted to rally. Sikh leaders demanded permission to take out a nagar kirtan from Gurdwara Nankana Sahib to Gurdwara Kyara Sahb, but their request was turned down due to which Sikhs community protested, then allowed and government registered FIR on report of ETPB yesterday 18th December to revenge from Sikh Community According to reports, Nankana City Police registered FIR against Mastan Singh and 25 of his accomplices under Sections 123-A (anti-state slogans) 295-A (injuring or defiling places of worship) of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and 440, 506, 186 and 147 PPC were included in the FIR," Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Deputy Director (shrines) Imran Khan told PTI today. He said Mastan was arrested yesterday and the police are carrying out raids to nab other suspects. Khan said Mastan and his accomplices had “attacked” a Gurdwara and smashed windows and doors of some rooms when the festivities on the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak were underway last month. A source in ETPB, which looks after the holy places of minorities in the country, said the action against Mastan had been taken for protesting before the government functionaries in Nankana Sahib. "Mastan is paying for his violent protest," he said. Guru Nanak was born in 1469 in town today known as Nankana Sahib in Northern India, which is now in Pakistan. Guru Nanak dedicated his life to interfaith dialogue, focusing his energies on reconciliation and peace. He categorically rejected caste or social discrimination, fought tirelessly for women’s rights and preached that no one has the right to enslave another. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has strongly condemned arrest of Sardar Mastan Singh and demanded his release. PCC Chief said that Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Group PML (N) government is also taking control of Evacuee Trust Properties and selling it to different housing project was is condemnable.
