Karachi: February 25, 2016. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have paid tribute to Lord David Alton on his continuous campaign to highlight persecution of Christians and other religious minorities in Islamic Republic of Pakistan according to a press note issued here today from Central Secretariat of Pakistan Christian Congress. Lord Alton of Liverpool visited Bangkok in 2015 where he witnessed miserable conditions of Pakistani Christian asylum seekers in Immigration Detention Center IDC and recorded their testimonies of persecution in Islamic Republic of Pakistan which forced them to flee from their homeland on which he organized hearings in UK parliament. Lord David Alton who is Vice-Chair, All Party Parliamentary Group APPG on International Freedom of Religion or Belief launched its inquiry report in Westminster on February 24, 2016, which maintained that UK Government policy on freedom of religion in Pakistan is inadequate while Christians, Ahmadi and Hindus are facing persecution. Nazir Bhatti said “Support of Lord Alton will ever remain part of history of Pakistani Christians and will play positive role in revival of true human rights values when no one was stepping forward to speak for rights of Pakistani Christian asylum seekers” PCC Chief urged UK administration of David Cameron to adopt report of APPG and to declare Christians of Islamic Republic of Pakistan as persecuted community.
