Professor Anjum Paul call on Director Manuscript for improvement in Textbooks

Faisalabad: May 28, 2016. (PCP) In a letter to Mr. Atta Dastgeer, Director Manuscripts, Punjab Curriculum And Textbook Board Lahore Ref. No. PMTA/51/16-KPR, dated May 26, 2016, Professor Anjum James Paul Chairman, Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association (PMTA) writes about improvement in textbooks. The content of the letter is below; To Mr. Atta Dastgeer Director (Manuscripts) PCTB Lahore Subject: IMPROVEMENT IN TEXTBOOKS Greetings and peace from Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association (PMTA). PMTA appreciates some of the steps taken by Punjab Curriculum And Textbook Board Lahore to create and promote peaceful coexistence and social harmony through textbooks published in 2016 at primary level which will be source of peaceful coexistence, social harmony and to respect diversity in the society. During a meeting with you in your office on May 23, 2016, delegation of PMTA presented before you reservations and recommendations for the improvement of textbooks and you assured that steps will be taken to address the reservations in the upcoming textbooks. Religious minority students are facing discrimination and persecution due to the violation of Article 20, Article 22 (1), Article 25 (1) and Article 36 of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 in the present textbooks published in 2016 regarding their religious identity and reputation. It is requested you to kindly avoid all sorts of discrimination and persecution from the upcoming textbooks against the religious minority students that hurts their religious sentiments to make Pakistan an ideal state in the comity of nations.
