HRFP Welcomes the Hindu Marriage bill passed by NA

Faisalabad: September 27, 2016. (PCP) Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) welcome to Hindu Marriage bill passed by National Assembly (NA) on September 26th after Sindh Assembly passed it earlier while the other provinces allowing the federation to legislate the Hindu Marriage Law. HRFP president Naveed Walter said that long efforts has been made by civil society, political workers and likeminded supporters to make this possible that a bill is passed unanimously by National Assembly. He said that Hindu community even having some reservations including clause 12 (termination of Hindu marriage) and clause 15 (termination of Hindu marriage by mutual consent) and we may demand it later to make some amendments but at a moment we all are agree with this bill as it is. Naveed Walter said further the challenges we have to face now are of implementation and awareness to grassroots level Hindu target groups and we expect by the government, authorities, civil society and Hindu community itself to make it possible accordingly. Naveed Walter said, the bill gives a new hope to Hindu community of Pakistan and it will also decrease the practice of abductions and forcibly marriages of already Hindu married women, he added more.
