Lahore: January 15, 2017. (PCP) The Christians gathered in front of Lahore Press Club on January 14, 2017 and recorded protest against production of alcohol in Pakistan.
The protestors were holding play cards and banners with demands of “Put complete ban on production and sale of alcohol in Islamic Republic of Pakistan” “consumption of alcohol is prohibited in Islam and Christianity” “Five year prison sentence for those who drink and sale alcohol” “Muslim religious leaders shall support ban on alcohol” “Ban permits to allow Christians to purchase liquor”. The protestors were also chanting slogans against alcohol consumption and demanding government to put complete ban on alcohol.
The protest was organized by Pakistan Minorities Unity Council PMUC in which many NGO,s and Churches participated.
According to PMUC: prominent leaders who participated in protest were Tahir Vicky, Akhtar Bhatti, Tariq Caman, Zeba Gill, Albert David, Nadeem Sahotra, Karamat Ilyas Chaudhry, Samuel Sardar Saroya, Arif Chaudhry and Samuel Khokhar.
