Minorities in Pakistan targeted to Bias, Torture and cruelties

HYDERABAD: June 15, 2017. (Abbas Kassar) Implementation Minority Rights Forum organized a Minority Rights Convention at Hyderabad press club. Addressing convention chief organizer of forum and chairman Tolerance Movement Samson Salamat said Pakistan is country of us all as “our forefathers had waged struggle for its creation. But due to some persons keeping prejudice against minorities were targeting them with bias, torture and cruelties. Lives, properties and even honor of minorities are not safe in Pakistan. Though we are called as equal citizens but we are treated as low class. He urged upon authorities to adopt policy to end this kind of bias against them. Samuel Piyara chairman of Forum deplored that federal and provincial governments have failed to follow June 2014 the decision of supreme court on rights and issues of minorities. He said they had held meetings with all government but faced disappointment. He said death of Irfan Masih of Umerkot was open hatred and proof of doctors who refused to touch his body as they said they were fasting. He condemned the incident demanding punishment of all involved in it. Mayor Hyderabad Syed Tayyab Hussain said Islam teaches protection and rights for minorities. Mayor Hyderabad condemned death of Irfan Masih and demanded trial of doctors responsible for it. He assured convention that problems of minority sanitary workers of HMC would be solved on priority basis. We all are citizens of Pakistan and have equal status. On this occasion Deedar Mirani, Boota Imtiaz, father Daniel Fayaz, Pushpa Kumari, Nazir Masih, M.Parkash, Manzoor Francis,Salamat Masih and Saleem Iqbal also spoke. Convention was attended by people of minority community from Hyderabad, Latifabad, Kotri and Jamshoro.
