Lahore: September 27, 2017. (PCP) Extremists in Pakistan's Punjab province have threatened to kill a young woman as well as her husband, children and in-laws because she abandoned Islam and converted to Christianity. The threats compelled the Christian convert, her husband to flee and take refuge in an undisclosed location. Meanwhile, woman’s family started threatening her husband's parents. Woman's family warned her husband’s father to bring her back and hand her over to them. The "hate campaign" emerged this year again after woman's Muslim family found out about their location while being pregnant of a third child, they were in hiding for years, said her husband Emmanuel Ghulam Masih. The Christian family is once again receiving threats from the family of woman. Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill detailing the incident told that the family is imperiled. He said that the Christian family has received new threats. Masih was threatened to divorce his Muslim wife a day’s time, or else his sister would be abducted. Sharing his views,Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill stated: “The State must protect and save them, or the victim family will soon be abducted. This is a case of intolerance of faith. Marriage is a sacrament between two persons,” he said adding that their marriage should have been accepted by woman’s Muslim family. He urged the government of Pakistan to take notice of the incident and provide Masih and his family adequate protection. He said that in case the state fails to secure the family, it will be hard for the family to survive.
